This featured job profile will receive a LEED'S GOLD DESIGNATION. Innovative Insulation Solutions of Chicago sprayed this project located in the Washington Park SRO area, at 5100 S. Indiana, which converted a 1957 YMCA building into an affordable 63 unit single room occupancy rental building. This project was featured in the Multifamily
Executive Magazine February 2006 issue. The conversion is utilizing several energy efficient strategies: Corbonding the building envelope, fluorescent lighting, green roofs, geothermal hat pump, and photovoltaic panels, to name a few.
Innovative Insulation Solutions, Ltd. was first contacted 3 years ago by James Bess, the project's energy consultant, and got off the ground during the fall of 2005. Our scope of work was to insulate all the exterior walls with 3" of Corbond spray-in-place polyurethane insulation,
selected by James Bess. The house was sprayed by installers; Ian Maple, Mike Goodman, Robert Lauber, and Jose Ramierz. The total square footage was 35,000 and floors 2-5 took 10 days to spray. Congratulations Richard Spiess, Owner of Innovative Insulation Solutions.
